Ferry Building Marketplace

The Ferry Building Marketplace is located at the foot of Market Street, in the historic Ferry Building. This is where locals and tourists alike will converge to go shopping for the best wares from local artisans. There are both large and small shops that cater to every different taste imaginable. The Ferry Building Marketplace first opened in 1898. The building is a focal point of anyone who approaches by train from the East or the East Bay. A ferryboat served as the only connection between people from the peninsula to the city from the Gold Rush until the 1930s.
