Chinatown

Chinatown in San Francisco, California is one of the largest Chinatowns in the world. It is also the oldest one in the United States. It is bordered by Powell Street, Nob Hill Street, Kearny Street, Bush Street. Chinatown was established in the 1850s in order to accommodate Chinese immigrants. There are many popular features in Chinatown including film, music, literature, and photography venues that have been used extensively in pop culture. This is the largest group of active Chinese culture outside the country of China. Even though there has been a decline of Chinese people in Chinatown due to migration to other areas o the city such as Sunset and Richmond, this could be a sign that the Oakland Chinatown is getting revitalized. Even with the decline in population, Chinatown is slowly spreading toward North Beach. But, Chinatown is still the number one tourist attraction for those who come to San Francisco. It is still a bigger draw in terms of the number of tourists than the Gold Gate Bridge. Hotels in Chinatown are conveniently located near this large neighborhood. Visitors can easily walk from hotels in Chinatown to explore the neighborhood, or catch a bus or taxi in order to explore the rest of the city.
