Cable Cars

The world’s last manually operated cable car system is located in San Francisco, California. It is an iconic symbol of the city, and tourists from all over the world come to San Francisco to ride the Cable Cars. The cable car system forms part of the urban transport network that is operated by the Municipal Railway Organization. The Cable Cars operate on two different streets from downtown by Union Square to Fisherman’s Wharf. There is also a third rout that runs along California Street. There are a few citizens of the city who find that using Cable Cars is the best way to commute, the majority of the riders on Cable Cars each day is formed by tourists and visitors from out of town. The cable car system of San Francisco is one of only two moving National Historic Landmarks. It began as a large system that opened in August of 1873 and is still operational today. This is why it is one of the most popular tourist attractions. Hotels in San Francisco along the cable car routes are the perfect place to stay because you can hop on the Cable Cars and go wherever you want to, such as Fisherman’s Wharf or downtown to Union Square.
