Park City

Park City, Utah, is a very small town (approximately 8,000 permanent residents) with a very big heart. It is a short 30 miles away from Salt Lake City, but it is like another world. Where Salt Lake City is an urban area, Park City retains all of its small town appeal, from the Sundance Film Festival every January to the open-air concerts that are offered all summer long. It draws artists of all types, and has some of the most modern and eclectic galleries in the USA. There are hiking and biking trails all around the city, horse trails, water parks, golf, ATV courses, all kinds of fishing, and resort style parks everywhere. If you are an active member of the disabled community, you will find plenty to challenge you here. You will have para-skiing, kayaking, and numerous trails and paths in the mountains open to you. Park City is home to Park City Mountain Resort, The Canyons Resort, Deer Valley Resort, and of course the Utah Olympic Park, where many of the Salt Lake City Olympic events took place. If you’d like to explore the outdoors at a more leisurely pace, there are hayrides and bus tours of local parks. And for the really daring among you, there’s white water rafting and hot air ballooning! Obviously, your activities will depend on which season you choose for your traveling, so plan accordingly. During the Film Festival, accommodations book up very early, as much as a year before, so please take that into account when planning your trip. Because of its proximity to Salt Lake City, and because of Sundance, Park City offers a full international complement of dining, for every budget, and most of the restaurants, coffee shops, bistros, etc., are within walking distance of each other. You can warm up at a coffee bar, or sit out under heating lamps and just people watch as you sip your hot drink. But no matter what the season, you will leave Park City satisfied and tired.
