Made even more famous recently because of the film Night at the Museum, the American Museum of Natural History in New York City is a large and comprehensive museum with exhibits devoted to human biology and evolution, minerals and gems, meteorites, fossils, dinosaurs, and its famous dioramas, especially those in the Akeley Hall of African Mammals and the Milsten Hall of Ocean Life.
The Hayden Planetarium is part of the Rose Center for Earth and Space, which is also part of the museum. The American Museum of Natural History of New York City (http://www.amnh.org/) sits on the Upper West Side, on Central Park West at 79th Street. Within walking distance is Strawberry Fields, the John Lennon Memorial, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art is across Central Park. For an authentic New York experience, stay in a New York hotel near the American Museum of Natural History and be close to the restaurants and culture on New York’s Upper West Side.
