It is located on the northeastern coast of Florida, along the Atlantic. Obviously, when one thinks of Florida, one thinks of beaches, and Jacksonville has some of the most beautiful beaches along the eastern seaboard. It is also just 25 miles south of the Georgia border, for those who want to wander a bit. For shopping, there are the popular Jacksonville Landing and Jacksonville Riverwalk, which combine shopping and dining with a pleasant, outdoor experience. As far as the aforementioned beaches, Jacksonville has beautiful beaches, with warm water all year round. These beaches are perfect for any number of water activities, from kayaking to parasailing to snorkeling to surfing, or just for cooling off between soaking up the sun. If you like to “rough it”, Jacksonville is home to Little Talbot Island State Park, which has some of the best beachfront camping around. There’s also a bird sanctuary, as well as Huguenot Memorial Park. And we haven’t even talked about dining in Jacksonville yet! Jacksonville has an extensive nightlife, with sports bars, pubs, and nightclubs, not to mention a huge arena that draws internationally famous acts. If you like live music, there are clubs that offer live music every night of the week. There’s food for every palate and budget, although of course seafood is a specialty.
