Indianapolis Hotels
IndianapolisWhenever one thinks of Indianapolis, the car race is what comes to mind, or perhaps the Pacers or the Colts, if you’re an American and into sports. However, this city is so much more than those things! It is the capital of the great state of Indiana, with a population of approximately 350,000. Geographically, it’s about dead center of the state, located about 185 miles southeast of the city of Chicago, and there’s plenty to do there. It has museums and historical buildings, and in addition it home to America’s only urban cultural state park, White River State Park. It houses the Historic Pumphouse, the White River Gardens, and the Indianapolis Zoo. In addition, Indianapolis is home to the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Fort Harrison State Park, and even the Indiana Medical Museum, and perhaps most famous, the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art. If shopping is the name of your game, then Circle Center Mall is the place for you. It has three floors of retail establishments, a movie theatre, and walkway access to many of the major hotels. For “upscale” shopping, maybe you should give Keystone at the Crossing a try. If you’re looking for something more unusual, then Massachusetts Avenue or Broad Ripple Village might be the place for you. There you can find vintage clothing, avant-garde boutiques and antique stores, and pubs and bistros with a casual, bohemian atmosphere. If food is what you’re interested in, you’ll find it in abundance in Indianapolis. From upscale to low key, from sports bar to kid friendly, it’s all here.
