Honolulu Hotels
HonoluluHonolulu is the capital of the state of Hawaii, with a population of approximately 400,000 permanent residents, although obviously there are usually many more people there! It is located on the southern coast of the island of Oahu, and is about as diverse a city as you will find anywhere in the Pacific Rim region. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the planet, and for good reason. First, there is the natural beauty. In addition to the beautiful Honolulu Zoo, there is the Waikiki Aquarium, which in addition to being a tourist attraction is a working marine biology lab. It is part of the University of Hawaii, which is also home to the Foster Botanical Garden, the Walker Estate Garden, and the Liliuokalani Botanical Garden. There is also the Bishop Museum, the largest museum in Honolulu, and of course the Pearl Harbor Memorial and Museum. The main reason to come to Honolulu is the ocean, and the beautiful beaches, of which Waikiki is the most famous (and most popular, too!). Even though Honolulu is so populated, there is beautiful skin diving and scuba diving, pretty much all year round. Whether it’s by bus, pedicab, bicycle, or scooter, there are days worth of sightseeing in Honolulu. And the shopping is incredible, due to it’s allure as an international destination. Tourists from all over the world flock to Honolulu to shop for everything from designer fashions to native Hawaiian crafts. The golf in Honolulu is unparalleled, both for its views and the beauty of the courses themselves. And of course there is the food and nightlife. The resorts along the beach are set up so you can walk from one to the next, stopping here for a drink, there for an appetizer, and in yet another place for a quick dance or dip in the ocean. You’ll run out of time before you run out of things to do in Honolulu!
