Atlanta Hotels
AtlantaAtlanta, Georgia, is an American city steeped in history. From its role in the Civil War (who could ever forget the scene of its burning from “Gone With The Wind”?), to its rich southern culture, Atlanta is truly a diverse and diverting city. It is the most populous city in Georgia, with a population of over five million people. In spite of its reputation as a “Southern Town”, Atlanta is very modern with a beautiful nighttime skyline. For history buffs, there’s the Atlanta Civil War Museum, which has one of the most extensive collections of Civil War artifacts in America. And Atlanta is the home of the Margaret Mitchell House and Museum, along with the Gone With The Wind Movie Museum, for those who just don’t have enough Scarlett O’Hara in their lives. There are walking tours of historic districts, where one can see houses built in the traditional southern style and, for those of a more adventurous bent, there’s even river rafting, canoeing or riding in an authentic paddle wheel riverboat along the Chattahoochee river. There’s also the Centennial Olympic Park, which was built for the 1996 summer Olympic games - truly, there’s something for everyone. And we haven’t even talked about the shopping and eating. Suffice it to say that, whether your tastes are thrifty or opulent, there will be something for you to buy, and definitely something for you to eat. Atlanta is home to some of the finest restaurants in America, where you can get authentic southern cuisine, or the best in Continental style food. Atlanta will leave you feeling like you’ve stepped back in time, to a more gracious, graceful, peaceful time.
