Albuquerque Hotels
AlbuquerqueAlbuquerque, New Mexico, is a city of approximately 500,000 people. It is centrally located in New Mexico, on the banks of the Rio Grande. Albuquerque is in a region known for its arid climate and clear air. Sunsets in Albuquerque are spectacular and the sun shines on the Sandia Mountains long after it has left the city, which then lights up in spectacular juxtaposition to the bright mountains and the dark night sky. Albuquerque has museums and art galleries, many of which are obviously dedicated to the local Navajo and Pueblo Indians. It is also home to the Albuquerque Biological Park, and the annual International Balloon Fiesta, which is held every year in October. For safety concerns, the number of balloons is limited, but, even so, their ascension and flight is an amazing sight, and it is arguably the most photographed event in the world. There is the Sandia Peak Tramway, the longest tramway in the world, which can be taken from Albuquerque to the crest of the Sandia Mountains, where you can enjoy spectacular views of New Mexico and the Rio Grande. Another unique way to enjoy the aerial views of Albuquerque is by hot hair balloon. Depending on the weather and time of year, you can go up, up and away in a beautiful balloon to look down at the beautiful valley and mountains. There are nature centers, botanical gardens specializing in the cacti that are indigenous to the region. There are neighborhood Farmer’s Markets that specialize in fresh produce, and roadside stands that sell the wares and crafts of the local Native Americans. Of course there’s hiking and biking, in the broad flat valley, along the river, or up in the mountains themselves, and camping of all kinds everywhere. Albuquerque is a place where you want to spend as much time as possible outside, it’s so beautiful.
