About Bucharest
(Română: Bucuresti) Bucharest is a tale of two cities and was called Little Paris because of his beauty. The first city appeared hundreds of years ago and became the glorious capital city of Romania. The second city was bound under the oppression of Ceausescu and the Soviets. Since the fall of the communist government the city has been working hard to reinvent itself and has made dramatic improvements. Bucharest is well positioned for the travelers and many western-based hotels have opened here. The hotels in Bucharest offer all the luxuries and comforts you would expect. The western-based Bucharest Hotels don’t offer all the amenities you would expect in the United States, but are well proportioned and comfortable. Bucharest Hotels are not as centrally based as in some other cities but they are still within easy driving distance. If you want to be nearer to Ceausescu’s Palace of the People then you can expect to pay much higher rates for the rooms. It is suggested that you try to distance find a hotel that is a little more removed from the Palace. If you are planning on a longer visit there you might prefer to rent an apartment. You can actually get an apartment fairly inexpensively and will be surprised at the convenience. Just make sure you don’t rent too far away from the center of Bucharest. As always make sure to check here first before making your selection and let us do the research for you. Before you go home in, please don’t miss the Atheneum, from the architect Albert Galleron and the Parliament Palace. more...
