Lisbon: Lisbon is a city located on the Atlantic coast of Portugal, along a protected bay. It is a city that has sections that time seems to have passed by, with cobbled streets and a magnificent castle. It is also a very modern, urban center, with a tram system and beautiful, modern aquarium. There is something for everyone in Lisbon, whether it is touring the city to look at the lovely buildings, spending the day at the state of the art aquarium, or hiking in the lovely hills that surround the city. Because of its position along the Atlantic, there are spectacular ocean views from just about anywhere in the city. There are museums both modern and traditional throughout Lisbon, and of course there is the lovely beach. Lisbon has nightlife as well, for those who are so inclined. Charming antiques shops sit side by side with modern, music pounding nightclubs and there are restaurants that serve the fantastic Portuguese food practically around the clock. One can visit the Alfama quarter, where things are still as they were during medieval times; it is like a little village within the Lisbon borders, where time has stood still, the cobbled streets labyrinthine and picturesque, with beautiful churches and houses with flower filled window boxes. If you like photography, practically every spot in Lisbon is a photograph waiting to happen - there’s a reason if it’s one of the most photographed cities in Europe. The quality of the light, along with the clarity of the ocean air, makes every picture a work of art.
