Vondelpark

The Vondelpark, founded in 1865, is the largest park in Amsterdam, and is host to nearly 10 million yearly visitors. It is centrally located in Amsterdam, and is very near to the Leidseplein and the Museumplein, well within walking distance of many of the top hotels in Amsterdam. At over 45 hectares, this expansive park is perfect for spending the day bicycling, walking, jogging, or for a quiet picnic overlooking one of its lovely ponds. The vistas are a photographer’s dream, and you will find some of the best spots to setup a camera and capture the serenity of this park in the heart of the city. The park has a full open-air theater where public concerts and plays are performed frequently; it is a perfect venue for enjoying music or theater, in the comfortable surrounding of nature, and best of all, the performances are always free to the public. The Vondelpark is also home to the Amsterdam Filmmuseum, with an extensive collection of films, and five separate theaters. The Filmmuseum is a perfect place to see screenings of the latest art-house films, as well as some of the most important classic films from the storied history of Dutch film production.
