Skinny BridgeGeneral Info Skinny Bridge - Magere BrugThe "Magere Brug", also known as the "Skinny Bridge" is a hand operated bascule bridge that connects Amstel to Kerkstraat. This beautiful bridge sparkles in Amsterdam's nights thanks to 1200 light bulbs that give to it a dream like atmosphere. This wonder of Amsterdam's engineering was built in 1670 and, since 2003, is open exclusively to pedestrians and bicycles. If you whish to see it opening don't worry, it opens often to give way to the boats going through the canal, the only one that is low enough to pass underneath the Magere Brug are those used for boat sightseeing tours. ![]() skinny
