Damrak

Damrak is located between Dam square and the Centraal Station is one of the busiest shopping streets in the city of Amsterdam. Many of the sights that are likely to be on your to see list for your travels will be either along this stretch of road, or easily within walking distance, and since it is so close the Centraal Station, it is perhaps one of the easiest locations to get to within the city. The Damrak is lined with many unique shops and restaurants, and is a terrific place to go if you are looking for souvenirs. The shops tend toward the tourist crowd a bit more than some of the other shopping districts in the city, so if you are looking to gather up some quick gifts for your friends back home, this is the place to go. If your shopping taste is more upscale, you will probably be better off going to the Magna Plaza, but for trinkets and baubles, you really can’t do better than Damrak in Amsterdam. With all of the restaurants and hotels near Damrak, as well as its close proximity to the Centraal Station, it is also a perfect place to stay while visiting Amsterdam.
