Centraal Railway Station

The Centraal Station (Central Station) in Amsterdam is the ground transportation hub for the city of Amsterdam, and nearly every method of transport for the city converges in this one station. It is true that you can get to just about anywhere in the city if you start at the Centraal Station. There are, of course, trains that depart from Centraal to nearly every area of the city, but there are also buses, trams, taxis, and boats. Many tours of the city depart from Centraal Station, and it is a perfect location to use as a meeting point if you have friends in the city, or are meeting other travelers for an outing. Since the Centraal Station is the hub for the city, and there are a number of hotels in the Centraal area, this is also a good place to get your room while you are staying in the city of Amsterdam. From a pure convenience perspective, there really is no better area to stay in Amsterdam, though you will surely find better accommodations in other areas of the city.
