Trevi Fountain General Info
So you enjoyed your stay in Rome! You couldn't see everything you wanted, or you fell in love with a beautiful girl or a handsome man, and you wish to come back to Rome someday? If you want to be sure to visit again this enchanting city just go to the Trevi Fountain (Fontana di Trevi), turn your back at the water and toss a coin over your shoulder. Romans do believe that doing so will grant you another visit in their city. This marvelous piece of art was built in 1762 on the site where originally was the terminal of the Aqua Virgo aqueduct, built in 19 BC. This fountain was meant as an allegory of the sea, the central group comprehends Neptune and two Tritons, sea deities, whom are mastering two seahorses, one tame and the other wild, representing the moods of the sea.
