This marvelous piece of art was built in 1762 on the site where originally was the terminal of the Aqua Virgo aqueduct, built in 19 BC. This fountain was meant as an allegory of the sea, the central group comprehends Neptune and two Tritons, sea deities, whom are mastering two seahorses, one tame and the other wild, representing the moods of the sea.
