Piazza della Rotonda General Info
The Piazza della Rotonda, in the center of the Campo Marzio and the center of Rome, is dominated by the Pantheon and surrounded by many Rome Hotels. The Baroque surroundings, including the marble fountain designed by Giacomo della Porta and topped by the small obelisk of Ramses II, are a pleasant visual contrast to one of the most famous, best preserved, surviving ancient Roman buildings, the Pantheon. The composer Pietro Mascagni lived in a hotel at the Piazza della Rotonda at the height of his fame at the end of the nineteenth century, and you can stay nearby as well. Piazza della Rotonda is a great location in the center of Rome, and it’s a busy piazza full of cafes and people meeting and passing through.
