Perugia: Perugia is located near the Tiber River in central Italy. It is the capital of the province of the same name. There is also the basilica of San Domenico that is an important setting for the middle ages when horse fairs and markets would take place near the basilica. When you are inside you will also be able to see Umbrian art and the tomb of Pope Benedict XI. After exploring the many churches in Perugia, you can go to the National Museum of Umbrian Archaeology in order to see one of the longest Etruscan inscriptions. There is also the Etruscan Arch if you are interested in the history and times of Etruscan people. If you want to get out in the open air, you will want to visit Perugia University’s botanical gardens. Perugia is an excellent city to discover and learn what it was like in Italy’s old times.
