Genoa Hotels
GenoaGenoa is a city with a population of approximately 600,000 people located on the northeastern coast of Italy, right on the Mediterranean Sea. It takes its place among the gems of the Italian Riviera, glittering under blue skies. It is known as the birthplace of Christopher Columbus, discoverer of the New World. It is a city steeped in history, the perfect amalgamation of the past and the present, and though it is situated along the coast, this isn’t your typical “beach resort”. The coastline is craggy, with cliffs and hidden caves that beckon to be explored. The center of this lovely city is the Piazza de Ferrari, and nearby is the famous Palace of the Doges. It is located in the heart of the old city, and most of the world famous historical monuments are located within walking distance: The Via Garibaldi, the Palazzo Rosso, a world-renowned museum, and the internationally known art college, Musei di Strada Nuova. In addition, there are the Museo d’Arte Orientale, the Cattedrale di San Lorenzo, and, in a modern twist, the Aquarium of Genoa, which is one of the largest in Italy. The quintessential landmark of Genoa must of course be the Torre della Lanterna (the tower of the lantern); it is the oldest working lighthouse in the world, and is said to have guided ships safely into port for hundreds of years. But Genoa isn’t just landmarks and beautiful buildings! There are tours available by boat, open-air bus, and private car, even by bicycle, so pick your destinations and book your tour. There is shopping of all kinds, from the world famous Italian designer boutiques to the small antiques shops in the old city, so be prepared to spend, spend, spend. And what can be said about the food? Salami and pesto, two Genoan specialties, appear in many dishes, and the hardest part about mealtimes will be choosing where to eat. And at night the city comes to life in a whole new way, with clubs that feature everything from dancing to singing to jazz to classical. And evening spent in the old city of Genoa is an unforgettable experience. There is just no end to what can be experienced in this beautiful city by the sea.
