About Vólos
(Ελληνικά: Βόλος) Volos, situated in Thessaly is the 5th largest city in Greece, and still the 3rd largest port in the country. Located on top of the ancient ruins of Iolkos, Volos was the home to mythical hero Jason, who set sail on the ship Argo, with his loyal followers, the Argonauts. As such, Volos hotels retain much of the history and magic that could be expected from a city with such a story to tell.
Set around the beautiful azure Aegean Sea, or the bustling marina, the hotels in Volos are within walking distance to wonderful beaches, and plenty of cultural delights. Although the city hasn’t retained all of its ancient architecture due to a large earthquake in 1955, Volos hotels have either been salvaged from ruins, or built in the reminiscent style of Ancient Greece.
