Science Museum

The Science Museum of London is located on Exhibition Road in South Kensington. It is a tourist attraction of mammoth proportions, drawing not only Londoners and citizens of England, but also thousands of international tourists each year. It was founded in the late 1850s by Bennet Woodcroft with carryover exhibits from the Great Exhibition which had been held in the Crystal Palace. The museum is home to over 300,000 exhibits, including the first steam engine, a replica of Crick and Watson’s first DNA model, and an entire wing devoted only to medical exhibits. The museum is also has an extensive library which is utilized by scholars from all over the globe. The museum is free to the public, though there are fees for special exhibits and the IMAX 3D exhibit, and it is open all year, excepting the Christmas holidays. There is a cafe and gift shop, and seating is available for those who choose to bring in their own food and drink.
