Kew Palace and Gardens

Kew Palace and its very famous adjoining Kew Gardens are located in western London, and the Palace was the residence of choice for Queen Charlotte, George III, and their fifteen children. It has been completely restored in the Georgian style, from the kitchens to the Queen’s Boudoir, and all appears, as it would have in the early 1800s. This palace is also the place where King George was held during the time of his “madness”, and those rooms are open to the public as well. Kew Gardens is a huge expanse of park, well over 300 acres, and it probably cannot be seen in one day. A few minutes on their website, planning which entrance is closest to the things you want to see will be time well spent. There are walking tours, guided and self guided tours, maps in various languages, and a cafe and gift shop. Kew Gardens includes separate gardens of azaleas, magnolias, rhododendrons, a Mediterranean Garden, a Japanese Garden, and a water lily pond, and that’s just scratching the surface. Kew Gardens and Palace is a gem of a place for an expedition while in London.
