Houses of Parliament

At the center of the British government for over a thousand years, the Houses of Parliament is one of the great sites of London that all visitors must see. Parliament sits directly on The Thames, with sweeping views of the great river to the north and south, and leads directly onto the Westminster Bridge where you can walk across and get a full sense of the size of this world-renowned body of water. Divided into multiple buildings, from the former home of the royal family at Westminster Palace, to the ever-present clock tower Big Ben, to the actual Halls of Parliament where the law of the land is discussed and made, the Parliament complex is awash with historical significance, as well as modern day importance. You can see laws debated live n the floors of the House of Commons or the House of Lords, or tour the monumental facility, including Westminster Palace, and fully take in the Gothic architecture in all of its glory. Located near The Mall, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, along with many of the other tourist sites of historic London, it would be a good idea to book your hotel near the Houses of Parliament if you would like to be in the middle of all the sightseeing action.
