Christie's London

Christie’s is an auction house based in London. It has two London locations; the first, on King Street, is its primary location, and the house where most of the fine arts auctions occur. The second is in South Kensington, which opened in the 1970s, and deals primarily with the midrange auction items. And, while auctions don’t occur at all locations, Christie’s has offices all over the world, from Moscow to Bangkok, from Mexico City to Geneva. Though its official founding date is given as December of 1766, there is documentation showing that James Christie, the founder, held auctions as far back as 1759, and Christie’s has grown over the centuries to be one of the premier fine arts auction houses in the world. Christie’s also offers special events, which are open to the public (those who can afford it) such as wine tasting tutorials with world famous winemakers, or wine and dinner combinations with famous chefs.
