Twelve days of premieres, special events and parties makes Edinburgh’s International Film Festival no less than fantastic. Every June, Scotland’s capital plays host to discovering new talent, innovation and continuing to develop UK industries while Germany, Japan, US and others hone their skills to audience’s delight.
Documentaries, animation and fiction only begin to scratch the surface of what EIFF brings to the event. Former winners and famous talents include John Grierson, Roberto Rossellini, John Huston and a young Martin Scorsese. Be ready to enjoy the next great writer/director, or become that person yourself!
Submit your own film and showcase your talent with all the others. Submission of application paperwork, DVD and fees works through three deadlines, early bird, regular and late. Cash prizes range from 1000 to 20,000 British pounds in areas covering Best New British Feature Film down to shorts and music videos.
Either as an audience member or making your own breaks, EIFF is worth the effort. Add in all that Edinburgh and surrounding areas of Scotland have to offer, and it’s the trip of a lifetime. Let the Athens of the North and Edinburgh’s International Film Festival show you how it is supposed to be done, scenes, screens and in-betweens.
