Panthéon (Paris)General Info The Pantheon is a "Gratia Ricevuta" from King Louis XV to Saint Genevieve. The King made an oath that, if he would recover from a serious illness, he would build a new church for the patron of Paris and so he did. The new church, designed by the architect Soufflot, has a façade that reminds of Rome's Pantheon. In the crypt of this astonishing building you will encounter the burial places of many French heroes. One particular, in 1995 a "Foucault Pendulum" was hanged from the ceiling in reminiscence of Foucault’s experiment that in 1851 demonstrated the rotation of the earth.
