Montmartre General Info
This area at the end of the XIX century was the "soft womb" of Paris. Brothels, cabarets and every sort of meeting place where writers, painters, poets and art lovers used to meet, contributed to its fame of "damned quarter". "La Butte", as the quarter is called in Paris, has lost much of its sinful charm gained in its golden years, rendered in a sweetened way by the movie "Moulin Rouge" with Evan McGregor and Nicole Kidman, but it still remains one of the preferred areas for those who visit Paris, who have the chance to wander in the meanders of its alleys admiring theatre shows or getting a painting by the artists who sit on the corners of the streets. From the "Place du Parvis du Sacré-Coeur" you might enjoy one of the most spectacular sight of all Paris.
