Ile de la Cité General Info
The "Ile de la Cité" it’s the historical centre of Paris. It is on this island that the Celts founded their primitive settlement that, in the following centuries, was developed first by the Romans and then by the Kings of the Capetian Dynasty to become the amazing city of Paris. The Remains of the ancient city are still to be seen in the "Crypte Archéologique" that lies under the churchyard of "Notre Dame de Paris", one of the masterpieces of gothic style that needs no introduction whatsoever. Still on this island you will have a chance to visit the "Conciergerie" that, during the period of the French Revolution, was the antechamber to the guillotine, and another jewel of the gothic style that is "Sainte Chapelle", famous for its stained glass windows.
