The shopping center Forum des Halles is situated on what was the famous Paris food market Les Halles until 1971. The postmodern steel and glass design mimics the iron and glass stalls of the original market. Mostly underground, and still above the bustling Métro and RER station Châtelet – Les Halles, the Forum des Halles has shops of all kinds – food, fashion, services, and restaurants, plus a swimming pool, cinemas, a gymnasium and cultural offerings, all in the middle of everything in the very center of Paris, and a perfect place to go and do things if the weather is not cooperating with you. If you are interested in fashion, don’t miss the Espace Créateurs, which showcases the work of young, up-and-coming Parisian designers. There are many nearby Paris Hotels in the first arrondissement, and the Forum des Halles is close to many Paris attractions like the Centre Pompidou and the Louvre.
