While you are at the Old Port, you will also want to stop and the Phare de Satine Marie, a lighthouse that sits on the inlet of the port. After the Old Port, you can make your way to the Panier, a district where you can find La Vieille Charite. This building was once a baroque chapel and alms house, but is now home to a bookshop, gallery of African and Asian art, a café, and an archeological museum. If you are interested in medieval architecture and history, you will want to visit the Abbey of Saint Victor. This is one of the oldest places of Christian worship in the country of France. The crypt and catacombs date back to the fifth century. If you come during Candlemas each year you will be able to see the Black Madonna carried from the crypt in a procession.
