Cannes Hotels
CannesWhen one hears the name Cannes, one immediately thinks of the Film Festival, beautiful people tanning on the magnificent beach, glamorous boutiques full of the latest couture - of course, all of that is there, but Cannes is so much more than that. Just stray a few steps (or a few miles) off the beaten path, and you will find a whole other world, of pottery, of perfume, museums, the list is endless. The suburb of Antibes known as Vallauris, just ten miles away, is famed the world over for its pottery; it is where Picasso spent a significant part of his life, and where he met his last wife, Jacqueline Roque. Continue along the country roads a bit further and you will come to Grasse, famous for its perfume making, and Biot, which renowned for its glasswork. For those of you want the city life, of course Cannes is the ultimate in fine dining, usually with fresh, daily caught seafood, and shopping, some of the most expensive and exciting shopping in the world! And there’s always the beach, where one can just swim and relax with a book, if one is so inclined. Depending on the time of year, there’s the Film Festival, of course, but there’s also an annual festival devoted to fireworks as well. There’s a lot more to Cannes than movies!
