Bordeaux: If you are planning on a trip to Bordeaux to sample the wine, then you are in luck! Many of the wine exporters in the region of Bordeaux have wine tasting rooms where you can sample some of the great French wines! But believe it or not there are things to do in Bordeaux other than sample some very fine wines. To start with, take a walking tour of the city and see some of the prettiest and most interesting neighborhoods anywhere. The local tourist office offers a two hour walking tour that will help you to take in the most important sites in the very compact downtown area. It is strongly recommended to take this tour, but call in advance to confirm the times. If you really enjoy visiting ancient churches then you won’t want to miss the Cathédrale St-André. The sculptures on the North Door and the Royal Door date back as early as the 13th century and are a sight to behold. There are of course museums, most notably the Musée des Beaux-Arts, and boat-rides available. And of course what is France without nightlife? You might want to start with a play or an opera at the Grand Théâtre, or you might be more interested in the trendier and glamorous bar called L'Absolute Lounge.
