About Salamanca

Located in western Spain is Salamanca. Located on the side of the mountain by the Tormes River. One interesting site to see is the bridge that goes over this river. It is 150 meters long and is built on 26 arches. Fifteen of these are of Roman origin and the others are from the 16th century. The city has a significant Renaissance city in Europe and many say that it is the most spectacular of all the Renaissance cities. The city is called the golden city because many of these buildings are made of sandstone which has taken on a golden glow over the years. The Plaza Mayor is an amazing site in Salamanca. It was originally used as a place for venues and now it is used as concerts and is one of finest squares in Europe. Nearby is the Central Market of Salamanca where many people can find a lot of fresh products. Other stunningly beautiful buildings include the Cathedral, the Monterrey Palace, and more.
