Marbella, Spain, while not as popular as the nearby Torremolinos, is still one of the best locations in Spain and the best city along the Costa del Sol. Some of the region’s best hotels are located here along with a spattering of reasonably priced locations as well. There are several four and five star hotels in Marbella to choose from and you will find them quite comfortable and spacious. The Marbella Hotels are unique and the service is excellent. Of course because of Marbella’s popularity with tourists you will also be able to locate hotels with more reasonable rates. Many of the hotels are near the sites and attractions of the city but you might find a better rate if you are willing to drive or walk a bit further. During the high tourist seasons you will definitely want to call and make your reservations early or you might have trouble finding something reasonable; as with all European hotels make sure to be specific in your requests, including number and style of beds.

Marbella has developed a reputation as a chic city and has earned that reputation. Starting at the beginning of the Eisenhower era in the United States, travelers began to discover the beauty of Marbella in a really big way. The royal families of Europe started coming here in 1953 and they were soon followed by the rich and famous. Here you will also find more average travelers. Even though many other cities along the Costa del Sol offer better beaches and attractions, people still come here because the rich and famous still come here. Prices for most things are higher than most other places so be prepared to spend more. One thing you should definitely do while visiting Marbella is to eat. The food and cuisine here is second to none but you should eat like the locals, not in the big restaurants, but in the more modest tapas bars. If shopping is on your list of things to do you won’t find the handicrafts you might find elsewhere. Because of Marbella’s reputation you are more likely to find shops such as Versace and upscale locations. Marbella is not for the budget minded visitor, but if you can swing a little bit extra you will not want to miss this terrifically chic city.
