The Prado Museum is a famous art gallery that is located in the museum district of Madrid. It features one of the world’s best collections of Eurpoean art that spans from the 12th century to the 19th century. This collection is based on the former Royal Spanish collection and features a variety of paintings and sculptures. There are also more than 5000 drawings, prints, coins, and medals. There are even about 700 small sculptural fragments housed at the Prado Museum.

There is a large number of paintings on display at the Prado. About 1300 paintings can be seen, and this is one o the reasons that the Prado is known as a world class museum. There are paintings here by some of the most famous artist the world, including Goya, Greco, Bosch, Rembrandt, and Botticelli. The building of the museum itself is a grandiose scheme that was built during the reign of Charles III. It was designed to be a monumental space for Madrid’s urban area.
