Plaza de España is the largest square located in central Madrid. You will find the square at the west end of the Gran Via, and because of the central location in the city, it is a popular tourist destination. Some of the features of the Plaza de España are the close proximity to the Royal Palace and the Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra monument in the center of the Plaza de España. It is dedicated to the Spanish poet, novelist, and playwright Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. It was built mostly between 1925 and 1930 and was not completed until 1957.
