The National Archaeological Musem (Museo Arquelogico Nacional) is located in Madrid, Spain beside the Plaza de Colon. The museum shares its building with the National Library. In the museum visitors will be able to see pre-historic, Iberian, Celtic, Greek, Roman, and medieval collections. The Museo Arquelogico Nacional was originally founded in 1867 by a Isabella II, who issued a royal decree. By 1895, the museum’s collections were moved to the current building, a neoclassical building that was designed by Francisco Jareno. As of this year, the building is undergoing reconstruction in order to better facilitate the collections. During 2008, only a select few of the highlights in the museum are still on display. Some of the highlights of the museum are the Lady of Elx, Lady of Baza, a replica of the Altamire case, Bicha de Balazote, and the Treasure of Guarrazar.
