Lloret De Mar Hotels
Lloret De MarLloret de Mar is a small town on the northeastern coast of Spain, right on the Mediterranean Sea. The actual population of the town is approximately 30,000, though this number explodes during tourist season to 200,000 or more. There are stunning beaches, clear water, and hidden coves that beg to be explored from the water. In addition, the shopping, eating, and recreation in Lloret is not to be equaled. There is a golf course that is suitable for all ages and handicaps, and hiking and biking along the Vias Verdes, which are unused railway lines that have been converted into trails with striking views of the township and sea below. In town, you must visit the brass sculpture Dona Marinera, a depiction of a woman waiting for her sailor husband to return safely from sea. In addition, there are museums dedicated to the Catalan history of Lloret, and the Town Hall, constructed between 1868-1872, in typical neo-classical style. There is a municipal cemetery, where the sepulchers are done in the modern Gaudi style that is indigenous to this part of Spain. For the horticultural minded, there are the Santa Clotilde Gardens, a botanical garden modeled after the Italian Renaissance style, in which native species of plants and flowers are arranged in a naturally occurring amphitheater that over looks the sea. There are sculptures scattered throughout to enhance the tranquility and beauty of these gardens. And since Lloret de Mar is still primarily a place for the young to play, there are discos, pubs and nightclubs on nearly every street corner. You can play in the waves and sand at the beach all day, have a siesta and a bit of shopping, then hit the town for some fun that will last until the sun comes up! So, whether you’re a walker, and just want to spend some time wandering the gardens and trails that surround the city, or you’re a beachgoer who likes to party all night, Lloret de Mar will show you a good time.
