The Passeig de Gràcia (Paseo de Gracia) is quite possibly Barcelona’s most posh street (avenida in spanish and avinguda in catalan), and it has been since the mid-nineteenth century and the beginnings of Catalan Modernism. If you’re staying in one of the Barcelona Hotels in the Eixample quarter, you’ll be within walking distance to some of the most chic stores and boutiques in the city. As you walk along the Passeig de Gràcia, you’ll pass by the Casa Amatller by Josep Puig i Cadafalch, and Antoni Gaudí’s Catalan Modernist masterpieces, Casa Battló and Casa Milà, also known as “La Pedrera” – the Quarry, and you’ll be within walking distance of Antoni Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia. This area is a great neighborhood to stay in, especially because it is close by to many budget hotels in Barcelona. Even if you’re not staying in the neighborhood, take a stroll up and down the Passeig de Gràcia (Paseo de Gracia) on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon along with Barcelona’s most fashionable inhabitants.
