Barceloneta

Barceloneta is a neighborhood located in the Ciutat Vella district of the city. It is bordered by the El Born district, the Port Vell, and the Mediterranean itself, and is easily accessible via the metro; in fact, it has its own stop. Barceloneta is most famous for its lovely expanse of beach of the same name, popular with tourists and locals alike. There is a lively boardwalk, with fine dining and nightclubs that never close. Most of the seaside restaurants serve seafood, with “catch of the day” being the most common speciality. The beach itself is huge, with room not only for sunbathers, but for volleyball, ping pong, and a large children’s play area. Barceloneta is also home to the Beach Centre, located under the arcade area, next to the beach itself, which offers a wide range of activities, including even the Beach Library service, for those who want to enjoy the beach quietly. There’s truly something for everyone at this wonderful stretch of beach.
