Munich Hotels
MunichMunich is a city located in southern Germany. It has a population of approximately 1.35 million people, which makes it the third largest city in Germany. It is a beautiful city, within driving distance to the Alps, and Garmisch, site of the famous 1936 Olympic games. And Munich has its own Olympic City, from the 1972 Olympics, as well. Munich has many buildings, which date back to the Middle Ages, and gorgeous restored buildings and churches. Munich is also the location of the largest Renaissance church north of the Alps. It is a city filled with parks, both historical and modern, including a public park where swimming is still allowed. There are countless palaces as well, which reflect Munich’s long and colorful history. You can spend days just visiting the aforementioned Olympic Park, the English Garden, the world famous Nymphenburg Palace and Park, just to name a few. Considering how steeped in history it is, Munich is surprisingly modern and cosmopolitan, too, with many high rises and avant-garde buildings. It contains many museums and art galleries, where a person could spend literally days looking at everything. Munich is truly a diverse city, and a wonderful addition to anyone's European travels. If beer is your thing, obviously Munich offers beer gardens to satisfy anyone’s thirst. During the annual Oktoberfest, most of the city devotes itself to the consumption of this golden beverage. For those seeking adventure of another kind, believe it or not, Munich offers river rafting on the Isar River. Outside the city, but well within driving distance, there are of course the previously mentioned Alps, with lovely little villages tucked away where one can enjoy a cup of cocoa; or one might want to drive to Neuschwanstein, home of the famous Mad King Ludwig.
