(Deutsch: Garmisch-Partenkirchen) "Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a town in Bavaria, southern Germany, not far from the border with Austria. It is Germany’s largest alpine resort, which is both an excellent ski resort and a summer vacation tourist hot spot. It is considered a heaven for hikers, mountain-climbers and cyclists, as well as skiers and snowboarders, and has been coined as Germany's ""winter sports capital"". Many hotels in Garmish-Partenkirchen are close to the chair lifts that travel up to the top of the stunning Bavarian mountains.
The town is also rich in history and culture. As well as places of interest and architectural landmarks, all the towns are designed in a typically traditional fashion, and many are painted on the exterior in bright colours, which is a long standing Bavarian tradition.
