Mitte is also home to Museum Island, located in the Spree River, which houses world-class museums including the Altes Museum, the Neues Museum, and the Pergamon Museum.
City West is known for its shopping and restaurants in addition to sights like the Olympic Stadium, Tiergarten and the famous Berlin Zoo, as well as Charlottenburg Palace. East Central is a busy area of Berlin, with lots of cafés, bars, shops, and the East Side Gallery, the largest stretch of the Berlin Wall still standing which has since been painted with beautiful murals. Aside from its history, one of Berlin’s biggest attractions is its nightlife. Home to about 200 dance clubs, Berlin leads Europe in the club scene, attracting techo music fans to dance along with some of the world’s biggest DJs. Areas big on nightlife are in the east section of the city, including Mitte, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, and Prenzlauer Berg.
