Trade Fair Palace

Unlike many of the museums of Prague that are housed in historic buildings, the Trade Fair Palace museum is part of an ultra modern office-building complex built in the Functionalist style. This is perhaps due to the type of art that is displayed within its walls, which is also of a modernist nature. The focus of the exhibits in the Trade Fair Palace is on 19th and 20th century art from the French masters, as well as modern Czech artworks from the mid to late 20th century. There are also a number of rotating exhibits that cover artwork from modern Czech artists, along with other European works from recent history. Because the museum focuses on modern artistry, there are a number of different mediums on display including photography, drawings and prints, as well as some of the more experimental forms such as film and the applied arts. The Trade Fair Palace is a bit out of the way if you are spending most of your travels near Old Town, but it is easily accessible by tramway from metro station at Republiky.
