Torture Museum

If you are looking for an out of the way, and unique place to visit in Prague, and you have an interest in the dark side of Medieval history, then you need to go to the Torture Museum in Prague. It is centrally located, near the Charles bridge and Old Town, and will only take you a couple of hours to go through and see all of its exhibits. Here you will see replicas of many of the devices that were used during the medieval period to torture heretics and enemies of the King or the Church. Some of the instruments of pain will seem familiar, but others will be difficult to even understand how they were used. Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on your point of view, each of the exhibits has an informational placard that explains exactly how the devices were used in all of its gory detail. Keep in mind that there are no photos allowed in the museum, and that if you have a weak stomach, you may consider avoiding this museum; but, if you want to see something different and learn a little about one of the darkest elements of human history, this is a good place to stop.
