Malá Strana, also called Lesser Town, rose below the imposing Prague Castle in 1257. In this quarter, linked to the oldest part of Prague by Charles bridge, used to live a huge German ethnic minority. After being almost entirely destroyed by fires in 1547 Malá Strana was rebuilt following the Baroque style. Thanks to the fires of 1547 the quarter gained the nickname of "Pearl of the Baroque Architecture". In Malá Strana you will find, inside the Church of Our Lady Victorious the well known statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague.
