Located next to the Church of Our Lady of the Snows and Wenceslas Square is the small, but extremely beautiful Franciscan Garden of Prague. Built in 1348 when New Town was being rebuilt, this garden has passed through the hands of a number of owners, but takes its name from the order of Franciscan monks that tended the garden in the 17th century. It is made up of a number of herbal beds, arbor-covered walking paths, and neatly manicured hedges and lawns. There are also many antique statues and fountains that line a lengthy seating area, perfect for relaxing and enjoying this peaceful spot in the center of one of the busiest sections of Prague.
If you are planning to visit either the Church of Our Lady of the Snows or Wenceslas Square, then the Franciscan Garden is a great place to stop in and relax between walking tours and give your feet a bit of a rest.
