(Česky: Praha) Prague is the cultural epicenter of Eastern Europe, and it is a jewel of history and architecture. It has been the home for the first University in Eastern Europe. Jan Hus, the bohemian reformer condemned to the stake in 1415, has been the first Czech chancellor of Prague's University. Prague was a sparkling cultural center until the Second World War. After the repressive parenthesis of the socialist dictatorship, Prague began to breathe the air of freedom becoming the capital of the Czech Republic in 1994. They say that each year an impressive amount of people choose Prague as their holiday destination, raising the population of the city of Prague to almost 4.5 million.
