Shenzhen Hotels
ShenzhenShenzhen is a city of about eight million people located along the southern coast of China, located immediately north of the bustling metropolis of Hong Kong along the Pearl River delta. It is one of the busiest seaports in China, and, due to its status as a financial and economic hub, it is a surprisingly modern city, coupled of course with its historic Chinese features. In many ways, Shenzhen is an extension of Hong Kong; it’s close enough for convenience, but without many of the industrial aspects of Hong Kong. There are many lovely parks in Shenzhen, including the Safari Park in the Nanshan district, and the Xianhu Lake Botanical Garden. It is also home to Window of the World Park, one of the largest public parks in China. This park is home to recreations of some of the most famous landmarks in the world, including the Taj Mahal, the Glass Pyramid of the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, Buckingham Palace, and the Acropolis in Athens, just to name a few. Truly there is no other park like it in the world. Shenzhen is also home to the Chinese Folk Culture Villages, which is a gathering of over fifty ethnic communities and their cultures within a 500 acre area. There are museums as well, including the He Xiangning Art Gallery and Museum, and the Shenzhen Museum, of course. In addition to all of its historical aspects, Shenzhen has something for the modern traveler as well. There are beautiful sandy beaches, and world-class golf links, including Ocean Sand Golf Beach. Of course there is shopping, with many large Chinese and Japanese department stores, in addition to the expected street vendor style shops, where brand name items from Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel, just to name a few, can be purchased at a fraction of what they cost elsewhere. And naturally, as a city located at an economic and transportation hub for southern China, the food has an international flair as well. One can find the usual large, comfortable restaurants, as well as the ubiquitous fast food restaurants, right down to the standing room only Chinese noodle vendors on the street. Everything in Shenzhen is truly a multicultural experience.
